We began with a clean slate and the latest technology, learning from the leading search engines and social networking services. Our goal was to evolve social networking into a business tool enabling community members to locate, connect and collaborate with each other.
Social communities use a simple peer-to-peer paradigm. Members of a social network seek to stay connected, keep current and share thoughts. We knew we had to go beyond social networking. We used those ideas as a foundation, but in order to be beneficial to community members the business community needs to solve problems too.
So we sought to create an environment that benefits each community member in their day-to-day working world.
In order to build a succesful platform we needed a "first" community, so we searched for a large industry that would benefit from the creation of a focused business community. We identified the "Events and Promotions" industry as our first community. This is a $500 billion annual global industry, that involves a great deal of sourcing, partnering and planning.
Each time we create a new community we learn more, create additional features, and make those features available to all of our communities. We believe in continuos product improvement driven by our customer's needs.
